Spotlight On…
Troy Prough, Cloud Specialist

That’s one of the things QualityIP, Cloud Specialist, Troy Prough likes most about his job. According to Troy, “I like working with so many different customers and in different environments. It never gets boring.”

Troy started his IT career over ten years ago when he began managing the computer network at a local library. At that time, The Cloud, as we know it, was in its infancy. As The Cloud has grown, so has his expertise.

Troy has been putting his unique skills to good use at QualityIP for the past six years. In additions to working with the customers and the daily variety of his job, Troy enjoys the culture at QualityIP. He noted, “The company parties are a lot of fun. I really enjoy the Halloween and Holiday parties. We have a lot of fun with the NFL and March Madness pools every year, too.”

“There’s always something new to learn.”

Troy grew up in Kent. He attended elementary school and middle school in Brimfield and graduated from Ravenna High School where he studied IT at the Maplewood Career Center. Since then, he has continued his education. He completed his Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems at Kent State University and has received several certifications from Microsoft® and Dell® over the course of his career. And, as we’ve already noted, he continues to learn daily in his job.

He isn’t all work, though. Outside of the office Troy enjoys Karaoke and he also plays bass guitar. Troy says, “My favorite music is rock ‘n roll and I especially like songs with funky baselines.” Although, he noted that he sings a variety of music when he’s hanging out with friends doing Karaoke.

It may surprise you to learn that, in the last year, Troy has lost 85 pounds and counting. He’s following the Keto diet. “It’s basically a low carb diet,” explained Troy. Even though he didn’t win the recent ‘Biggest Loser’ contest at QualityIP, Troy is understandably proud of his diet success.

Troy’s IT Tip for our customers:

Be suspicious of links in emails or on websites. When in doubt, investigate further—check with the sender or verify the link on a website before you click. Taking a little extra time can save you a lot of headaches.
